  1. All courses in the university’s departments and graduate institutes are primarily taught in Mandarin.
  2. Since students in Mandarin-taught programs are expected to have basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Mandarin, foreign students applying for admission may submit proof of their basic language proficiency as supporting documentation for the admission review.
  3. Required proof of language proficiency:
    1. Applicants must submit at least one of the following documents:
      • A certificate of Test of Mandarin as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) at Level 2 (A2) or above.
      • A certificate of Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) at Level 4 or above.
    2. Applicants may be exempt from submitting proof of Mandarin proficiency if they meet any of the following conditions:
      • Native Chinese speakers (must provide a “Foreign Student Chinese Proficiency Self-Assessment Form”).
      • Graduates from schools where Mandarin is the language of instruction (must provide proof, such as a diploma from a Malaysian Chinese Independent High School or a high school transcript).
      • Students who majored in Mandarin at the university level (must provide a diploma or official certification from the university).
  4. Since the embassies and representative offices of the Republic of China (Taiwan) may require proof of language proficiency when processing visa applications, applicants should check the specific requirements of their local ROC representative office to facilitate the visa application process.
  5. Foreign students enrolled in undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral programs at this university are encouraged to enhance their Chinese proficiency before graduation. The recommended goal is to reach TOCFL Level 3 (B1) or higher. The university’s Chinese Language Center also offers various Mandarin courses to support language learning.
